The End of Black Men Book Club
Hi. It’s been a while. And I’m unfortunately bringing bad news. If you haven’t noticed there has been a long hiatus from newsletter posts and updates on our app. This is because I have not been feeling up to the task of representing and creating content for this idea any longer. I had many hopes for this project and it brought me into a circle of black readers and intellectuals that are great folks that inspire me to this day. But for this project unfortunately it has failed. Failed in the fact that I didn’t change the culture, that the work I wanted to do feels unfinished and half-assed, that maybe I was never the person for this to begin with. But at the same time, it did succeed in bringing together 20,000 plus black folks from across social media and its newsletter about the common belief that reading is the surest way towards a equitable future as well as a fruitful present. I hope it has inspired some to make reading a habit and a positive way to better manage all that comes with life. It feels bittersweet, is what I’m trying to say.
I felt obliged to make an announcement as people still follow and interact with some of the content. None of which will be deleted and if something does, i will work to quickly get it reuploaded on other sites. I cannot guarantee the app and website will continue to function but any social media post or Substack post should live on as long as the platforms do. I’m sorry if this is upsetting to some of you and I’ve always felt honored to be an ambassador for this idea that’s existed long before I was even alive.
Best of luck and keep reading,
Jordan
